3.000ft. up the west slope of mt. Dicti, we arrive at the
Lassithi Plateau, green and fertile, irrigated by white-sailed
windmills. The first
stop will be at Psychro to visit the Dictean cave, the mythical
birthplace of Zeus, an impressive sight with stalactites
and stalagmites. After driving around the plateau, we arrive
at Seli for a coffee-break from where we can view a breathtaking
sight of the plateau.
We continue for a visit to the Kera Monastery with its frescoes
from the late byzantine period. On the way back, a short
stop at the village of Mohos from where one has a magnificent
view on the villages of Chersonissos, Stalis and Malia.
